NSC Divisions
"Issues of national security are varied and multi-dimensional, including security, political, economic and social aspects".
(From Article 7 of the Government Law of 2001),
The National Security Council is composed of three divisions: the Foreign Policy Division, the Security Policy Division and the Counter-Terrorism Bureau. The heads of these divisions are deputies of the Head of the NSC, each according to his field of expertise, and in addition to them the NSC includes an Economic Advisor, attorney Brig. Gen (Res) Michael Navon, a Legal Advisor, Attorney Roy Dick Keidar, and the senior assistant, Mr. Shimshon Saar.
Division Missions and Objectives
The missions of the divisions are usually based on the directives of the Prime Minister, senior Ministers or from within the organization – according to the directives of the Head of the NSC. The products of division work are presented, after approval by the Head of the NSC, to the Prime Ministers and his advisors, and to the senior staff in Israel. The divisions work in close collaboration with numerous government ministries, such as the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Public Security and more. In addition, division employees work in collaboration with the security organizations and the intelligence community, as well as with academics and experts in a wide variety of fields in Israel and abroad.
