Undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Physics from the Hebrew University and graduate in Operations Research from Stanford University in California. Married to Tamar, a professor in Zoology at Tel Aviv University, and father of Itai, Aya and Zohar.
1966 – served as a fighter, group commander, company commander and unit commander of Sayerat Matkal.
1997 – Commander of an armored regiment, brigades and divisions. Later, served as the Corps commander and Head of the IDF's Planning Division, and within this framework served as the head of the Defense delegation in the negotiations with the Jordanians, Palestinians and Syrians. He also served as the senior liaison officer with the Jordanian army.

1996-1999 – Served as the senior strategic advisor to the Minister of Defense.
2000-2002 – Israeli ambassador to the US
2002-2003 – Chairman of Elul Asia Ltd.
2003 – President of Boeing Israel, Boeing VP for International Relations. Serves as member of the Board of Trustees of the Tehnion in Haifa, member of the Board of Directors of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
